*Course Description:*

This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts and systems used in medical coding, classification, and reimbursement. Students will learn to assign and sequence codes for inpatient and outpatient services using the International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-10-CM) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT).

*Course Objectives:*

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Understand the principles of medical coding and classification systems.

2. Apply ICD-10-CM and CPT coding guidelines to assign accurate codes.

3. Sequence codes for inpatient and outpatient services.

4. Analyze medical records for coding and reimbursement purposes.
